Managing Your Mental Health at Work

Your doctor is a professional who can officially diagnose any underlying conditions that you may be suffering from. They can explain any conditions found to you and can then set you on the right path towards managing your condition and improving your day to day life as a result. You may find that your doctor prescribes specific medication or refers you to therapy. Some will offer a combination of the two approaches. There are countless additional sources of support out there too, ranging from charities to support groups and helplines, so never feel alone in this.
Consult Your Manager
In regards to work, when you’re struggling with your mental health, you should consult your manager. They’ll be able to listen to any concerns you have and can help to resolve issues at work that may be making your mental health suffer. For example, if you’re being overloaded with work and are under pressure from tight deadlines, they may be able to redistribute work more evenly across the workforce and lift pressure from your shoulders. If you are unable to consult your manager for any reason, you should reach out to your company’s HR department. It’s the HR department’s role to resolve any issues and ensure that the workplace is a safe and suitable place for anyone to work within. They can resolve larger issues and help you along the way to a more comfortable work life.
